Orvietana sotto all’intervallo, dopo un primo tempo quasi sena tiri in porta.

Fiorucci had to do without central defenders Congiu, suspended, and Vignati, injured. He opted for Siciliano and handed Labonia his first start of the season. Caravaggi and Gomes were retained as the foreign players. Orchi, not in peak condition, remained on the bench, while in midfield, Greco, Ricci, and Manoni took charge. Upfront, the trio comprised Fabri, Marsilii, and Stampete. The first half unfolded at a slow pace, with few thrills. Greco’s headed attempt went high, and on the other end, Boiga was the most active, first shooting high on the volley and then narrowly missing with a left-footed effort. Orvietana had a chance just before halftime, but Marsilii’s long-range shot missed the target. As the clock ticked past 45 minutes, Montevarchi earned a corner, and amidst some debate in the box, Virgillito’s deflection found the net, breaking the deadlock. There were protests for a potential handball by an opposing attacker. Orvietana trailed at halftime after a first half with almost no shots on goal.

The second half did not bring the desired improvements. Marricchi made crucial saves to deny the Tuscan side, first on a counter-attack, then preventing a goal from Priore, and finally thwarting Rufini’s attempt at a rebound. Orvietana failed to react, and Pardera almost hit the post after another dangerous ball lingered in the box. The situation worsened when Manoni received a second yellow card. Cuccioletta, a new acquisition, entered the game, followed by Rossi to add an extra attacking presence. Veneroso and Santi also came in. However, Labonia received another quick yellow card, reducing Orvietana to 9 men, and a comeback seemed improbable. Yet, Gomes managed to test Dainelli with a shot on target. However, on another counterattack, the second goal arrived. A long pass on the edge of offside found Ciofi, who took advantage of Rossi’s slip to make it 0-2. Fiorucci protested an alleged irregularity at the start of the action, receiving a red card as well. The game had little left to tell, and in the final moments, a third goal arrived when Pardera played a ball in front of goal, and both Priore and Caravaggi intervened, with the home defender diverting the ball with a backheel.

A costly defeat in the standings, Orvietana faces another home game next Sunday against Grosseto.

Names and Numbers

ORVIETANA (4-3-3): Marricchi (26’st Rossi); Caravaggi, Labonia, Siciliano, Gomes; Greco, Ricci, Manoni; Stampete (36’st Santi), Marsilii (24’st Cuccioletta), Fabri (39’st Veneroso).
