This is not the case. In fact, if the issue had been even minimally explored, it would have been discovered that the estimated amount in the 2024 budget is absolutely not a record but in line with the amounts ascertained in previous years, if not lower. For correct information for those not accustomed to the budgets of public entities, it should be noted that forecasts are estimated based on the proceeds ascertained in the previous year. And the forecasts are cautious precisely because of the uncertainty of the revenues from Highway Code fines.

“Specifically,” they continue, “in 2023, the estimated collection was 767,000 euros. The estimate included in the 2024 budget is 747,000 euros, lower than the initial estimate for 2023. As of November 30, 2023, the actual proceeds amount to 695,000 euros, far lower than the 968,000 euros ascertained in 2022 and the 716,000 euros in 2021. It is clear that before this year, revenue from traffic fines was not around 500,000 euros, as claimed, unless one wants to compare the data with the budgets of the Covid years when all revenues were underestimated compared to normal, especially those related to the mobility of people, as was the case for parking and the tourist tax. It should also be clarified that over 50% of the fines and about 70% of the revenue come from the electronic access points of the ZTL (limited traffic zone), which are fixed control points and are certainly not moved to chase or harass citizens.

“In this context,” they comment further, “the hasty interpretation that Orvieto residents will be burdened with fines next year, conveniently the election year, to make money is not sustainable, and it seems even more imaginative to then link a presumed increase in fines to new hires in the local police. The truth is different from what is being presented, especially to the social media audience. The truth is that traffic wardens are bad when they issue fines, and with them, the Municipality is bad, and when they don’t issue fines, they are not doing their duty, and with them, the municipal administrators are not ensuring proper controls. Perhaps more balance and, above all, greater civic sense are needed. The truth is that local police officers are hired and work to ensure order in our city, the safety of our children when they leave school, the proper conduct of events, and the general respect for rules. The truth is that the proceeds from fines have specific purposes such as improving road safety, ranging from illuminated and raised pedestrian crossings implemented in recent years to road surface maintenance, which has been invested in more than ever in these four years to improve the roads and streets of the city, from the historic center to the outskirts.

“It is evident,” they conclude, “that the 2024 election campaign has started earlier than usual, but the hope is that serious and in-depth discussions on the issues affecting our city can take place, avoiding creating unjustified alarmism, discussing problems, but above all, solutions that this administration has worked on and is working on diligently in recent years.”

In merito ai recenti articoli di stampa relativi alla delibera della giunta comunale sui proventi delle sanzioni amministrative pecuniari…
[62,71

post-103541","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-politica","category-copertina","cs-entry","cs-video-wrap
["GET
