The film, featuring the Roman actress in her directorial debut alongside her role as the protagonist, definitively places her among the great Italian actresses, in a performance that brings her close to the likes of Anna Magnani and Monica Vitti, accompanied by the magnificent Valerio Mastrandrea who, with his extraordinary stage presence, manages throughout the film to make himself hated by the audience for the cruelty, selfishness, and intrinsic violence, both physical and verbal, that he conveys in every moment of the film in which he appears. Against the backdrop of post-war Rome, with the presence of American troops in the city as the referendum of June 2, 1946, is approaching, where women will vote for the first time and will be 89% of those eligible, 13 million against the 12 million male votes, in the popular referendum that will mark the beginning of the Italian Republic. A triumph for the female world that, apparently, 77 years later, is still not enough and is not enough to definitively establish gender equality in our society. In a film where black and white takes us back to the glories of Italian neorealism, with many talented actors subtly and perfectly framing the Cortellesi\/Mastrandrea duo, the subtle and malicious Roman irony manages to make us bitterly smile, even in the drama and pathos of the story. In this way, Romanity becomes a precious source of sarcasm and wisdom. Wisdom because it is a film that, in every scene, leaves us thinking and almost makes the viewer uncomfortable in witnessing the gratuitous male idiocy, retrograde, senseless, absurd, and transversal to every age and social class of protagonists and extras. “There is still tomorrow” is a film to be shown in schools, from elementary school children to high school students, to be screened in universities, associations, cultural centers, in public screenings because it is highly educational for young people, and because it is also a film of Italian history, our history, which definitively puts the male gender against the wall, forcing it to take responsibility. The story also has a happy and optimistic ending, the director suggests that there is indeed still a tomorrow, but the reality is that of a global society where women suffer continuous violence, abuse, and harassment in Iran, Afghanistan, Arab countries, infibulated in Africa, and discriminated against in many parts of the world, even in Europe where, in the highly civilized Iceland, women no later than a month ago, were forced to strike against the violence and gender disparities suffered. In our country, we are now at emergency levels. With the murder of poor Giulia, the number of femicides rises, as happens daily, and too many cases of sexual and gender violence remain among those reported or not. It is no longer possible, no longer sustainable, no longer tolerable. Institutions must respond to all this with rigor, tightening penalties and ensuring their certainty. It is no longer acceptable to witness sentences from judges who minimize or even eliminate sexual offenses, leaving those who have stained themselves with them, those men who have stalked, beaten, and persecuted their partners and do not accept separation or believe they have “possession” of them, free. The school can and must intervene. The debate and civic education must be present in our educational system from an early age because that is where the foundations of respect and education begin to be created and where the antibodies for this virus, which is the sense of male superiority towards women, begin to form. And then an appeal, a secular prayer, a plea to the male world: let us teach our children to respect women, not only their mothers, grandmothers, or sisters but all women. Let us set an example at home, with our sons and nephews, educate them and manifest from childhood the firm intention to consider the smallest fault, gesture, or rudeness towards a girl, a friend, a teacher an unforgivable sin. We men must take on this emergency, and we must pass it on to our male children; we have no alternative, we must, all together, get out of this Dantean circle in which we have ended up. Give meaning to the next November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, work tirelessly, and take on the burden of responsibilities, especially us men, because this day no longer makes sense to be there, because there is no longer any need for a day like this, and let us turn it into the Day of Love for Women… for all women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Andare a vedere il film della immensa Paola Cortellesi, nella serata in cui da pochissime ore, \u00e8 stato…","protected":false},"author":45,"featured_media":103413,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"csco_display_header_overlay":false,"csco_singular_sidebar":"","csco_page_header_type":"","csco_page_load_nextpost":"","csco_post_video_location":[],"csco_post_video_location_hash":"","csco_post_video_url":"","csco_post_video_bg_start_time":0,"csco_post_video_bg_end_time":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[764],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-103412","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-spunti-di-vista","cs-entry","cs-video-wrap"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/103412","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/45"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=103412"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/103412\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":103416,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/103412\/revisions\/103416"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/103413"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=103412"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=103412"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.orvietolife.it\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=103412"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
