ROBERTA PALAZZETTI, INDEPENDENT MAYORAL CANDIDATE, “ORVIETO, THE IDEAL CITY. SUBSTANCE OVER APPEARANCE; WE MUST STUDY, WORK, AND PLAN FOR THE YOUTH
Roberta Palazzetti, aspiring mayor in the upcoming 2024 elections, introduces herself in the first of a series of interviews focusing on the various candidates’ programs. Palazzetti proudly states, “I was born in Orvieto and studied up to obtaining a Classical High School diploma.” She then pursued university studies and a career that took her away from the cliffside town but always kept her eager to return whenever possible. “Even today, I live in my childhood home,” she continues with a touch of pride.
After working as a manager for large companies worldwide, Palazzetti decided to engage in local administration to “revitalize Orvieto and prevent it from becoming a small village. We have significant opportunities that we must seize.” As a civic candidate, she strongly believes in commitment, study, the ability to plan, and having ideas, emphasizing that she doesn’t believe in mere appearance and promotion without a clear project. She questions the effectiveness of political parties in Orvieto’s context, expressing a need to start from the city and then collaborate with the Region, State, and Europe.
The campaign slogan is straightforward: “Orvieto, the Ideal City.” Palazzetti explains that this means the city should be ideal for new residential areas, offer job opportunities for young people, support young couples, and to achieve this, “we need methodology, more services, widespread urban decorum, and cultural activities for everyone. Orvieto must become the city where everyone lives well.”
